Feeding Center Construction ~ Hidden Paradise School
4theWorld’s’ USA volunteers, along with Belizean
students and the community members from the village of Duck
Run III and other communities in the Spanish Lookout area,
will begin volunteering many weekends to build a feeding
center for the school children at the Hidden Paradise School
in Spanish Lookout.
This project will advance the health and nutrition of current
students and encourage enrollment of new students living
outside the village. The feeding center will also provide
shelter through adverse weather, especially during hurricanes
which are devastating to the people of Belize. Having a feeding
center at Hidden Paradise School will make summer school
programs possible and will increase participation at 4theWorld’s
Introduction to Computers courses at the computer center
built in 2005-2006 by 4theWorld.

School in a Box Program ~ Belize
4theWorld is working towards the long-term sustainability
of Computer Learning Programs within primary school systems
and local communities. There are eight schools within the
Cayo District and one school in Guatemala collaborating on
this project with 4theWorld, along with parents, teachers,
the 4theWorld Club at Belize University, and volunteers from
the local villages. This project will be replicated over
other districts with the development of computer and ESL
curriculums that will be implemented in stages. The fundraising
goal is $14,000 USD which covers shipping costs of the 40-foot
containers as well as school building upgrades and security
improvements.
This is a unique sponsorship opportunity for a Company,
University, or international donor to contribute directly
or conduct fundraising events to raise the much needed funds
to facilitate the shipment of computers for these nine schools
in Belize and Guatemala.

School in a Box Program ~ Philippines
4theWorld’s USA volunteers, along with Filipino
American Students and the members from four indigenous communities,
will begin volunteering to develop the Education Improvement
Project and build classrooms and a library for the school
children from under-developed, remote communities in the
Philippines which were devastated in last November’s
typhoon and massive mudslides. Many people were affected
as many villages were completely buried in debris, leaving
hundreds of people missing and high numbers of orphaned children.
The first phase of the project involves obtaining resources
to improve the education system, which currently consists
of a teacher in a bamboo hut amid many children who are eager
to learn. Our School in a Box Program will ship basic school
supplies such as books, paper, pencils, art materials, etc.
to the student in the Philippines. 4theWorld is also partnering
with students in the US to create other learning materials
such as flash cards, games and activities which will be included
in the shipment.
Each shipment of supplies costs approximately $10,000 USD.
There are many current projects in schools, churches, and
villages in desperate need for these items. Volunteer opportunities
include calling companies, organizations, universities and
student groups for fundraising and generating awareness of
4theWorld for this project. Please contact 4theWorld to get
involved in helping the wonderful people of the Philippines
and the School in a Box Program!

School Upgrade ~ Buena Vista
4theWorld’s project at Buena Vista School has an
urgent need. This school is one of the poorest in all of
Belize, and has serious safety issues that put young children
in danger on a daily basis. Four children and one adult were
recently injured when a stairway collapsed as they tried
to enter the upstairs classroom. Fortunately none of these
injuries cause serious injury or loss of life.
We invite your participation with this project to rebuild
the three classrooms and library in order to offer a chance
for children to learn in a safe environment. This is a great
opportunity for individuals, corporations, organizations,
and universities to turn around the lives of many children
who are very eager to learn in a safe school.
The new structure made of concrete and bricks would provide
a hurricane shelter for the community of Buena Vista in the
event of severe weather conditions. This essential project
will benefit many children for years to come and change Buena
Vista School from being the schoolhouse in worst condition
into one of the best in Cayo.
The project cost is $35,000 USD.

Sudan Education Improvement Project
4theWorld’s USA volunteers, along with Sudanese
Students and the community members from the town of Mading
Aweil, are developing the Education Improvement Project to
build classrooms and a library for school children from under-developed,
remote communities in Sudan.
Phase 1 consists of obtaining resources to improve the education
system which currently consists of a teacher with a slate
or chalk board and a group of children sitting under a tree.
Our School in a Box Program will ship basic school supplies
such as books, paper, pencils, art materials, etc. to the
student in the Sudan. 4theWorld is also partnering with students
in the US to create other learning materials such as flash
cards, games and activities which will be included in the
supplies shipment.
Phase 2 involves building a new structure which will house
medical staff and educators who will provide basic health
care education and vaccinations to village residents. The
students and teachers are also in need of books, school supplies,
and computers to facilitate optimal conditions for learning.
Many of the students, as well as parents and friends, are
going to work many hard hours to improve circumstances for
the community's children. Together the people of these communities
will demonstrate true teamwork and appreciation for the volunteer
experience. When completed, this new building will be a safe
haven and will serve as the Community Center for all community
education programs and health resources.
Get involved in rebuilding Sudan! The building project total
cost is $50,000 USD.
School in a Box Program cost is $10,000 USD per shipment
of educational supplies.

Youth Center ~ Cameroon, Africa
Creating a Youth Center in Cameroon will enable girls
who have dropped out of school to receive formal training
as a seamstress, and provide opportunities for education,
peer support initiatives, and special health programs such
as AIDS and HIV awareness. 4theWorld is providing a container
of equipment including sewing machines, computers, books
and other educational materials which will also go to two
local primary schools in Cameroon.
