Situated alongside the beautiful Mopan River,
on a family ranch, Clarissa Falls Resort offers guests
a peaceful stay in a natural setting. The people and staff
are amazing. The river and nature trails are beautiful
to relax after a busy day of volunteering. Clarissa Falls
is a good base for your exploration of the Cayo District,
including the Maya ruins of Xunantunich, Cahal Pech and
Caracol. Tours can be arranged for you with local operators.
You can also go swimming, tubing, river rafting or canoeing
on the river, take nature walks into the forest, and go
horseback riding or just relax in a hammock with a cool
lemonade, watching for beautiful birds.
Clarissa Falls Resort is one of the prettiest ranches
in Belize; rolling hills of green pastures dotted with
large trees and grazing cattle and sits alongside the
river overlooking the falls. Who could resist! Refreshing
drinks and cold beers and sodas available at the restaurant
and Bar.
| The restaurant/bar sits atop a Maya
Temple, and there are several on the ranch. The
food and service is incredible. Sip a glass of Chena's
home-made lemonade and listen to the falls ripple
over the rocks in the Mopan River below, as you
peruse the menu. It features predominantly "Mestizo"
style Belizean dishes. Their soups are cooked up
freshly, just as you order it, and is chock full
of wonderful vegetables, meat or beans (or a combination).
The menu offers breakfast, lunch and dinner all
at very good prices. Try some tacos, or a couple
of enchiladas smothered in sauce with onions, and
don’t forget to try some of Chena’s
Special hot Sauce! There are also a half-dozen salads,
and pastas. For dessert, don't forget to have Chena's
famous, rum-soaked, tropical fruitcake, it's decadent.
