Scholarships
The 4 the World (4tW) Exponential Empowerment Educational Scholarship and Mentor Program has four components: 1) scholarships; 2) mentors; 3) education and training; and 4) small-scale community capacity building. These four complementary components provide a comprehensive, holistic, and organic set of positive and forward-looking outcomes for local area girls and women, as well as their larger context—family, school, and community.

These four complementary components provide a comprehensive, holistic, and organic set of positive and forward-looking outcomes for local area girls and women, as well as their larger context—family, school, and community.
- The first outcome of the intervention is the empowerment of girls and young women in areas of extreme need. Scholarships provide the opportunity for girls and young women to complete high school and/or college.
- The second outcome of the intervention is a higher completion rate because of two support mechanisms within the intervention: 1) the scholarship requires recipients to attend school regularly and to achieve academic success; and 2) barriers and challenges to attendance and achievement are addressed head on by the scholarship recipient and mentor on a case-by-case basis.
- The third outcome is training for women community leaders embedded in the mentor training bring awareness of gender issues and provides a time for the influential women to discuss solutions. The scholarship recipients receive training to develop an enhanced awareness of health and wellness, with a concurrent ability to make informed and empowered decisions and lifestyle choices.
- The fourth outcome is the completion of a local community service project by the scholarship recipient. The scholarship requires that recipients implement a community service project before receiving the scholarship. Not only will the community be enhanced in some way, the scholarship student experiences leadership and program planning, and becomes a more visible and competent ambassador for the scholarship program.
Magdalena describes why she still volunteers for 4tW now, 3 years after she graduated from high school:
4 the World was there to help me so I have to continue and give my best for them to feel proud of me and for them to see that there are more people that they can help, and that those people could succeed in life. So I’m very, very happy, thankful and happy for 4 the World to come in here and see our needs and thanks to them we succeed in life.
